New 2nd Generation SCGC Vintage Style Tuners [ Click images to view enlargement We are proud to announce our 2nd generation SCGC vintage style tuners! Our first tuner caused a bit of a stir! The 18:1 ratio was finer than anything on the market in a vintage tuner, and worked great. There was some room for improvement so while addressing those issues we re-designed the entire plate to make it more sculpted and sleek. It's definitely stronger and a more elegant design. This tuner has a much stronger system for mounting the worm gear and maintaining the tight tolerances needed between the worm gear and the string post gear. The shaft was redesigned so that the button mounts on four flats instead of just two, which was fine for the metal buttons but wasn't as ironclad for ebony and ivoroid buttons. This allows us to expand our custom button selection. The size of this tuner is slightly narrower and longer, enhancing visual appeal. The screw holes and string post holes are identical. They should be able to be swapped out in most situations without additional fitting. Fitting to replace older Grover tuners on SCGC PW's or other vintage tuners may vary. We have two different sized bushings to facilitate replacement. If our bushings are not big enough, Stewart MacDonald guitar shop supply has a larger conversion bushing for their Waverly tuner that fits the SCGC. These will need to be fit with a reamer.

This poster, designed by the illustrious illustrator Craig Frazier (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Communication Arts, Atlantic Monthly), was juried and selected to hang in the (highly prestigious) 46th Annual Society of Illustrators exhibition in New York City, and will be featured in the printed annual that will be published later this year. Despite its small appearance, the H 13 Fret employs a body depth approaching that of a much larger dreadnought-sized guitar, producing extra volume and bass support to bolster its rich tone. Its comfortable size and complex tonal characteristics make it especially appealing to traditional players, soloists, and recording artists who demand maximum warmth and tonal versatility.
Features of the handcrafted H 13 Fret include a specially hand-tuned bracing system beneath its top-grade Sitka spruce top, a slotted headstock for classic style and enhanced string angle and sustain, and an ebony 1" x 6" pyramid rectangular bridge. The sides and back are select mahogany, and the mahogany neck features an ebony fingerboard with a total of 19 frets. An ebony headstock overlay and the wide ebony bridge with pyramid-style detailing add to the classic appearance.
