I don't know if it's something different SCGC are doing with "my" model -- or just plain luck - … but I have to thank you all. She's a tiny bit touchy, understandable in such a new instrument. Yesterday I used the guitar in the morning for a book signing/talk. Used it in the afternoon on a crappy outdoor stage with no ventilation for a workshop…Temps were anywhere from 70 degrees to 95, humidity horrible. Then last night, in Bethlehem PA, I closed out a festival to around 2,500 people who watched me play for upwards of two hours plus, taking solos, doing drastic re-tunings (standard down to C-G-D-G-B-E, DADGAD, capo-ing all over the place) - and I'll be damned if the little sucker didn't hold perfectly throughout!! …A lovely, lovely instrument. THANK YOU.”

“…both (guitars) totally exceeded all expectations. The 00 was easily the loudest, fullest sounding 00 I’ve played. Just scary power and projection. Its hard to believe its all coming from this tiny box. The D/PWM is the perfect prewar style hog, but with modern playability. Everything I wanted and more. Mission accomplished. While clearly larger, the D/PWM is noticeably lighter than my OM/PW, which its self is a really light guitar, and obviously a smaller guitar. Are you guys pumping these things with helium these days? “I'll suppose I'll start with aesthetics. To put it simply, I'm having a hard time keeping from looking at the guitar as I'm writing this email! The graining in the German spruce top is detailed and captivating, and the rosewood back and sides are quite beautiful, as well. But it's the custom appointments I'm most in love with. The rosette design the folks at SCGC came up with is imaginative and unique -- a signature detail that really helps give my guitar a one-of-a-kind look. The rosewood rosette complements the back and sides really well, too, pulling the whole look together. And the ebony binding and purfling are precisely what I had in mind.
As far as the sound of the instrument goes, the power, balance and response are astounding. The German spruce top is clearly an excellent investment. Open-position chords are resonant and ringy, sustaining for days. And when I play single-string leads, each individual note is absolutely full of character. I find myself playing more slowly and deliberately than before, just to enjoy the beautiful tone of every note. When I fingerpick, I'm floored every time by the guitar's liveliness and responsiveness. The detailed, shimmering tone of the notes is genuinely addictive.
The construction of the guitar is top-notch, to say the least. I've enjoyed looking the instrument over in detail just to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into building it. I realize now that I've never played a guitar with intonation close to this good. I'm working out Tony Rice's version of Blackberry Blossom, and when I jump from first to seventh position, the continuity is like nothing I've experienced before. Before now, it's all been about compromise when it comes to pitchiness. But no longer! And I can't believe how light the guitar is! Amazing!
